AEK Athens Claims Victory in Hard-Fought Home Match
Athens, Greece – In a match corresponding to matchday 5 of the Super League 1, AEK Athens prevailed over Volos NFC at the OPAP Arena, in a game marked by intensity and midfield battles. Ball possession was clearly in favor of the home team, reaching 60%, although this did not always translate into clear goal-scoring opportunities.
The first half passed without goals, but with a yellow card for J. Penrice of AEK Athens in the 43rd minute. The second half brought the only goal of the match, scored by F. Pierrot in the 54th minute, assisted by N. Eliasson, unleashing euphoria in the local stands.
The match continued at a high pace, reflected in the numerous fouls committed by both teams (14 for AEK and 19 for Volos NFC) and the yellow cards shown by referee Vassilis Fotias, including one for F.
