FCSB Secures Narrow Victory in Deventer
Deventer, Netherlands – In a hard-fought match at the De Adelaarshorst stadium, FCSB secured a valuable away victory against GO Ahead Eagles on the first matchday of the UEFA Europa League group stage. Despite GO Ahead Eagles dominating possession with 73% and creating numerous scoring opportunities with 17 total shots (7 on target), FCSB’s defensive solidity and attacking efficiency proved decisive.
The only goal of the game came early, in the 13th minute, thanks to a precise finish by D. Miculescu, assisted by D. Alibec. Despite their attempts to turn the situation around, GO Ahead Eagles were unable to convert their numerous chances, encountering a well-organized defense and an alert goalkeeper.
The match was characterized by high intensity and numerous fouls, reflected in the yellow cards shown. GO Ahead Eagles received one yellow card, while FCSB accumulated five. Estonian referee Kristo Tohver had a busy night in Deventer. Ultimately, FCSB managed to manage their lead and take all three points in a match where effectiveness prevailed over possession.
