América de Cali Mounts Comeback Victory at Home Against Once Caldas
Santiago de Cali, Colombia – In a vibrant and hard-fought match at the Estadio Olímpico Pascual Guerrero, América de Cali secured an important victory against Once Caldas, with a final score of 2 to 1.
The match, corresponding to matchday 12 of the Colombian Primera A Clausura, began with Once Caldas taking the initiative and opening the scoring in the 45th minute thanks to J. A. Zapata Ramirez, assisted by P. Gomez. However, the visitors’ joy was short-lived.
Returning from the break, América de Cali came out with a different attitude and quickly found the equalizer. T. Palacios, assisted by C. Barrios, leveled the score in the 48th minute. The home team was not satisfied and continued to press, finding the winning goal in the 57th minute, thanks to C. Barrios.
The rest of the match was intense, with both teams fighting for control of the ball. América de Cali dominated possession with 57%, generating 30 shots, 12 of them on target. Once Caldas, on the other hand, had difficulty creating goal-scoring opportunities, totaling only 10 shots, with just 2 directed at the rival goal. The intensity of the game was reflected in the cautions, with three yellow cards for Once Caldas and one for América de Cali.
