Norway Edges Out Finland in a Tense Friendly Match in Oslo
Oslo, September 4, 2025 – Norway defeated Finland in a friendly match played at Ullevaal Stadion with a score of 1-0. The match, refereed by Robert Hennessy from Ireland, was characterized by Norwegian dominance in ball possession (57%) although they struggled to convert chances into goals.
The only goal of the match came in the 17th minute when Erling Haaland converted a penalty. Despite the early lead, Norway failed to extend their advantage, reflected in their 14 shots, of which only two were on target. Finland, on the other hand, showed a defensive attitude and although they had less possession (43%), they tried to generate danger with 3 shots, one of them on target.
The match was also marked by several interruptions and a total of 25 fouls (13 by Norway and 12 by Finland). The intensity of the game was reflected in the yellow cards shown to Alexander Sorloth for Norway and Robert Ivanov for Finland in the final minutes. Norway won 9 corners, while Finland had none.
