Macará Dominates Aucas in Quito with Convincing Victory
Quito – In an exciting match played at the Estadio Cooprogreso Gonzalo Pozo Ripalda, Macará convincingly defeated Aucas, demonstrating effective attacking play and solid defense. Despite Aucas dominating possession with 61%, the “celeste” team seized their opportunities to score the goals that secured the victory.
The first goal came in the 22nd minute, scored by P. Gonzalez, assisted by J. Cazares, putting Macará ahead. The second half began with a new goal from P. Gonzalez in the 50th minute, this time assisted by M. Viera, extending the lead. A goal by J. Marrufo was disallowed by VAR in the 56th minute due to a previous foul. However, Marrufo redeemed himself by scoring in the 68th minute, assisted by L. Alvarez. M. Viera also joined the goal-scoring party in the 74th minute, assisted by P. Gonzalez.
Aucas, despite having more shots and corners, failed to capitalize on their territorial dominance with goals until the 89th minute, when C. Zambrano scored with an assist from B. Montenegro, leaving the final score a reflection of Macará’s effectiveness. The match was marked by a total of 27 fouls and two yellow cards, one for each team.
