In extra time, Foden scored in the 104th minute, assisted by Cherki, putting Manchester City ahead again, but Marcos Leonardo reappeared in the 112th minute to level the score. Despite the Saudi team’s efforts, Manchester City managed to hold on to the lead and advance to the next round.
Manchester City dominated possession with 69%, taking 29 shots, 14 of which were on target. Al-Hilal, with 31% possession, managed to convert 4 of their 17 shots. The game was also characterized by its physicality, with three yellow cards for City and one for Al-Hilal.
