Germany U21 Dominates France in European Championship Semifinals
Košice, June 25, 2025 – Germany U21 secured their place in the final of the U21 European Championship after a convincing victory over France at the Košická futbalová aréna. A game marked by German intensity and tactical discipline, which managed to contain French possession and capitalize on their goal-scoring opportunities.
The match started at a frenetic pace. Germany took an early lead, in the 8th minute, with a goal by N. Weiper after an assist from P. Nebel, showcasing the precision of their attack. The lead was quickly extended, in the 14th minute, thanks to N. Woltemade, solidifying German control over the match.
France struggled to find their rhythm, but were frustrated by the solid German defense and physical imposition in midfield. The French team received four yellow cards (I. Doukoure, J. Lepenant, S. Magassa, and C. Lukeba), reflecting their difficulty in containing the German attacks.
In the second half, France tried to come back, but their efforts were in vain. Germany, with 46% possession, knew how to manage the game and wait for their moment. The final blow came in the 90th minute, with a goal by B. Gruda, assisted by P. Wanner, sealing a resounding victory.
Germany demonstrated greater effectiveness in attack, converting 3 of their 5 shots on target into goals. Although France dominated possession with 54%, they only managed to execute 7 shots on target, failing to convert any. The match was also characterized by a high number of fouls, 16 by Germany and 18 by France, and the cautioning of two German players (B. Gruda and E. Martel).
