Slovakia U21 Dominates Romania U21 in Bratislava
Bratislava, June 17, 2025 – Slovakia U21 convincingly defeated Romania U21 at the Štadión Tehelné pole, in a match corresponding to the group stage of the UEFA U21 Championship. The match, refereed by Lithuanian Manfredas Lukjancukas, ended with a victory for the home side, who showed greater precision and ball control.
The first goal of the match came early, in the 11th minute, when A. Obert, assisted by T. Rigo, opened the scoring for Slovakia. The Slovakian dominance translated into a constant offensive game, although the Romanian defense tried to contain the attacks. The first half also saw a yellow card for S. Nebyla, of Slovakia, and another for O. Perianu, of Romania.
In the second half, Slovakia extended their lead in the 57th minute with a goal by T. Suslov, again assisted by T. Rigo, demonstrating the effective connection between these players. Romania, however, did not give up and managed to pull one back in the 67th minute thanks to U. Akdag. Despite the Romanian effort, Slovakia maintained control of the game until the end. The match was marked by several yellow cards, reflecting the intensity of the game.
In terms of statistics, Slovakia U21 dominated ball possession with 54% compared to Romania’s 46%. The Slovaks were also superior in shots, with 22 attempts (9 on target and 10 off target) compared to Romania’s 5 shots (1 on target and 2 off target). Slovakia also had a slight advantage in corners, with 7 compared to 5. The intensity of the game was reflected in the number of fouls: 17 committed by Slovakia and 16 by Romania.
